This refers to the various periods of a bird's life, then for granivores, as are most of our cage birds, the most correct feeding should be roughly the following: in the feeding of the nestlings, in the early days, pastoncino with about 20% of noble proteins, therefore one egg for every 100 grams of low protein content or any other flour. As the days go by, proteins can drop to 16 –18% because the nestlings begin to move, therefore consuming a large amount of sugars (starches, carbohydrates or whatever you like). During the moulting period, little or nothing more than normal maintenance feeding, what may seem a heresy, but it is not, if you think that in the two months that the moult lasts the Canary must consume to form its new feathers no more than 1.5 grams of protein (2 or a little more in the Parisian area) and I repeat this takes place in two months, so the daily quota is almost negligible. By maintenance feeding is meant only the scagliola. Regardless, providing grass plants, such as Dandelion in May, Plantain (major or minor) from June to September, Setaria (panicastrella) and others that can be commonly found, is very useful.
